Frequently asked questions.
1. Do I need a permit for electrical work?
Yes. Most electrical projects—panel upgrades, new circuits, outbuilding wiring, remodels, and service changes—require permits to ensure the work meets North Carolina electrical code.
2. How do I know if my home or business needs an electrical panel upgrade?
You may need an upgrade if you have:
Frequent breaker trips
Flickering lights
Warm or buzzing panels
Not enough breaker space
New heavy-load equipment (EV charger, HVAC, machinery, etc.)
3. Why are my lights flickering?
The most common reasons are loose electrical connections, overloaded circuits, failing fixtures, or service-side issues from the utility.
4. How often should electrical systems be inspected?
Homes: Every 3–5 years
Commercial buildings: Annually or as required by insurance or occupancy inspections.
5. What type of electrical work should a licensed electrician handle?
Anything involving wiring, service equipment, breaker panels, grounding, or new circuits. Handymen are not permitted to do any electrical work beyond installation of a light fixture.
6. How long does a typical electrical job take?
Small jobs (outlets, switches, fixtures): 1–2 hours
Medium jobs (circuits, EV chargers): 2–6 hours
Large jobs (panel upgrades, garage/shed wiring): 1–3 days
7. Are GFCI and AFCI breakers required?
Yes. Code requires:
GFCI: Kitchens, bathrooms, garages, outdoor areas, and all wet locations
AFCI: Most living spaces to prevent arc-fault fires
8. Do you offer emergency service?
Yes — we respond to no-power situations, burning odors, sparking, failed breakers, and time-sensitive repairs (based on technician availability).
9. What areas do you service?
Rowan, Cabarrus, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Davie, Davidson, Stanly, and Union Counties.
10. How can I get an estimate?
You can call or text 704-224-5112, or click here request a quote. Some jobs can be estimated virtually with photos or videos, like simple EV charging equipment.
